The sophisticated device shown in the middle was used to ‘park’ the read/write head in a fixed position for transportation. When current is applied to the coil the latch releases – when the power is lost, it locks again.
Permanent magnets (and a coil inside) make up a little "motor" that moves the arm holding the heads. WARNING! These magnets are *very strong*, if you disassemble this mechanism, don’t get your fingers between them. They make really cool fridge magnets though, just mind the paint on your fridge.

Do you remember DOS? You may remember Windows 95, where you had those 1.44 MB diskettes that you had to use to install software – or you had one of those fancy CD-ROM readers. But if we look a bit further back, before 1984, we were only able to store, read and move data between computers utilizing these good old floppy friends. That’s where the term "floppy" comes from.
But when we’re talking about the 1.44 MB media, we shouldn’t be saying "floppy", we should be saying "diskette". It’s a very common mistake.

FAILED to Nobulate!

I hit the X button in the top-right because pressing any key didn’t resolve, just restarted this error message. After closing this CMD window, the software image continued to deploy. Things seem fine, not sure what failing to nobulate really does to your system.
System has been running normally since receiving the pre-imaged HDD for this system from Dell and running the pre-configuration utility that precedes the Windows OOBE.
Found logs on another Dell: "nobulate.log" and it had info regarding finding and accessing drives. Still not sure what it does.

My 80GB PS3 got the yellow light of death yesterday after having no problems in over 2 years! since Dec. 2007. I just bought a new 120GB one and I am wondering if there is anyway I can get my saved game files, etc. from the HDD on my non-working PS3 to the new one without damaging it. Thanks.
